this ep was formed with a concept in mind that involves a natural phenomenon occurring in various/different fields of science and nature - anti-parallelism. as the word suggests, anti-parallelism describes the natural relationship between two occurrences, objects or even non-material things, that are virtually identical and yet oriented in different directions. during the time the music was made i was researching natural phenomenons like this one. naturally, this became part of the nucleus, fabric and inspiration for this work. in genetics, for example, if the antiparallelity is corrupted during the process of dna replication it is called a mutation. this mutation can be anything from totally inconsequential to critical for the survival of the whole living organism. a double helix of dna contains two helixes, that are naturally anti-parallel to one another. in physics this could be two of the same objects moving through space and time in opposite directions - just like the instruments or parts of a beat in electronic music production. so metaphorically speaking,anti-parallelism holds a natural balance to keep it safe and stable. although this might sound all very conceptual and theoretical this music is obviously just what it is - it is not intended to teach math, physics or biology in any way. the above mentioned aspect has simply found its way through my head and might have led to a piece of music that somehow, at least for me, is connected to these thoughts. it might evoke something very different for you.

from celle into the wide world: these days guido schneider is one of the major globetrotters among djs and producers worldwide, but he began his career 15 years ago in provincial germany. however, instead of baking bread rolls, schneider founded his own label neue welten right from the beginning. it was a move that naturally brought him to the capital of electronic music in berlin. what followed was a series of exciting and successful collaborations with other renowned artists, and after dissolving his label, schneider began travelling as a sought after dj, jetting all around the globe. it is little wonder that such a reputable dj and producer also belongs to the diverse highgrade family. he has now produced another ep for the berlin label which brings us the typical guido schneider qualities right before our eyes, or even better: before our ears! the two tracks navigate precicely from the first bar, the minimal sound universe that relies on elaborate percussion, without ever being over produced, and flow into fantastically harmonic vocals that lend the thumping beats an elegant softeness. simply stated, typically schneider.

excellent 4 track vinyl with fantastic deep house. it gets started with >spring loop<, a track that looks to its name both for feeling and production sense. of course that sensuous vocal sample that gets drawn through it wouldnt do the job on its own, but rau knows that too and surrounds it with a warm, humid bassline and his always changing and snapping drums to keep it in the pocket for the whole 5 minutes. even though the groove on the a1 is already heavy for him, he goes deeper yet with >swearing (vinyl version)< that jamaican vocal is something so classic that we wont spoil it here, but the pumping house beat and piano stabs he winds around it give even more poignancy to the lyrical substance� we are pretty sure that by the time he finally echoes the vocal out late in the track there will be some hands in the air for this one

for the 4th and last release of 2011, audio assault presents the deep and dark beats of spanish producer: p.e.a.r.l. he is already known for a couple of well received tracks on christian wunsch tsunami label, but is even better known as part of the agony forces production duo who has recently unleashed their lycaon project.except nothing but quality techno beats on audio assault and p.e.a.r.l. brings exactly that. quality.

a new plangent release is always a pleasure. recondite rapidly established his name with his first 2 releases on his own label, initially been pressed up in a small run of handful white labels, but picked up by the clone guys and since then each release is being pressed in small +-300 copies editions. small intimate techno music bridging the gap between the gentle late 90s early 00s electronica and deeper german techno from labels such as smallville, dial and giegling (and sometimes even linking to some brittish bass music). seductive tracks that slowly build up and make time go by in the most gentle and pleasant way!

norm talley tackles techno. yes, you heard that right� in spite of 3 tracks on the original transmissions that fell a little closer to what the heads would expect from a very reliable source, it was that first one that everyone begged for more of. we must agree that those 3 minutes were just a little of a tease, so here is the full 9-minute extended cut of �man on the moon� that all of you asked for, and what a trip it is! certainly funky broken-beat techno is a new look for norm, but it�s pretty obvious in all 9 of the minutes here that this is a man from detroit making the music he knows best. there�s a groove and a touch here that speaks of soul and experience� although you may find this one in the crates of some of the new school techno elite, it�s safe to say they couldn�t have made it the way norm talley did. even if you remember part one you may be surprised where he takes it, but we�re even more pleased to say that �earth 2 moon� beats it at its own game. this one made our necks snap and heads turn the very first time.

chicagos richard pegue was one of the most intriguing figures to come out of the chicago soul scene in the 1960s and 1970s. raised during the citys fertile doo-wop era, pegue immersed himself in music immediately. he cut his chops as a mobile dj, record store clerk and recording artist before stepping into the booth as one of chicagos most enduring radio personalities to grace the citys airwaves. the nickel and penny labels featured in this compilation are twin sides of the same eccentric coin, pegue himself.
